Meissen, modelled by J. J. Kaendler · c. 1740
From the most ambitious porcelain commission of the eighteenth century — the thousand-piece service modelled for Count Heinrich von Brühl. The swans rise in low relief beneath a glaze the colour of standing milk; the handles are formed as nereids who have clearly carried heavier things.

The nereid handles on this model usually lose their fingertips. These have not. Remarkable.

The 1962 Vienna provenance matches a sale I have in my files — happy to share the page.
